Day 32 of 50: Ella Milch-Sheriff, Israeli composer, inspires me today with her “Halbtener” for voice and chamber orchestra.
Listening to “Halbtener,” I am charmed by the rise and fall of song, almost as though the universe is speaking to me delicately, amusedly, both withholding and pouring a story that I can plant into the green Earth. A story that grows slowly on its own, becoming a doorway through which I can cross half worlds, quarter worlds, slivers of magic that flit and float within the inner recesses of my vibrant imagination.
