Day 50: Theresa Calpotura - Princess

Day 50 of 50: The Last Day

Today, I am thrilled to feature my mentor, Theresa Calpotura, Filipina-American composer of multiethnic descent whose song, “Princess,” inspired this painting. This piece is dedicated to her.

Listening to “Princess,” I feel myself spinning into 1001 worlds through Time’s eclectic wavelength, up and down the mountainsides into the seas, wings beating above, beyond, and below - free, free, free. The clouds storm and the trees burgeon where I wait for the fell apple, rolling into the rain that lights up the flames at my feet, growing close to the sun… so close… too close… and then I arrive and fold my wings. I’ve made it.
