Day 44 of 50: I am inspired by Cassie Kinoshi, London-based Black composer, and her “Griot’s Dance” for jazz ensemble.
Listening to “Griot’s Dance,” I hear layers and layers of stories unfold, burgeoning from deep within the soil, shooting skyward beyond the sun, over the moon, into the stars. A tapestry of human legacy. A mosaic of undeterred motion growing into a whirlwind epic of song, rhythm, and dance!
