Day 10 of 50: Clarice Assad, Brazilian-American composer, inspires me today with her “Book of Spells: Chapter One: Love and Relationships - The Siren’s Seduction” for mixed ensemble.
Listening to “The Siren’s Seduction,” I imagine entering a wonderland, lured in by the ecstasy of sound. I run, leap, twirl, fly in a frenzy as though I’m wearing 100-league boots fit for Atalanta and she beats every competitor in her race. Each way I step, I’m catapulted into a thousand and one worlds tempting to me to come hither. Wonderlands within a wonderland… this painting is one of them.
