Day 24 of 50: I am drawn towards Donia Jarrar, Arab and Muslim-American composer, and her “Perpetual Dance (Hijaz Kar Theme & Variations)” for solo piano.
Listening to “Perpetual Dance (Hijaz Kar Theme & Variations),” I see hurdles of waves beating against the sky, stretching far beyond the cumulus clouds and entering a space of dashed silver rain. Whirlwinds of this precious metal splurge into the sea and coil into a storm of roaring frenzy. Uncontained energy. Liberation.
