Day 26 of 50: Today, I am inspired by Kim Ngoc Tran, Vietnamese composer, and her “Strasse” for contemporary dance using tranh (Vietnamese 16-string zither), street sounds, and collage and electronic music.
Listening to “Strasse,” I find myself walking through layers, slowly quickening my step beneath the sharp rays of sunshine. Running through a turbulent city to escape into a bay where seagulls attack the sea with easy rapture. Then the oceans well up and I can longer tell if I am calm or ecstatic… Perhaps an equilibrium, perhaps, engaged with chaos blooming underneath.
